Clarks Shoes started as a sheepskin-tanning operation in 1825 and later branched out into footwear when they launched a wide range of slippers in 1830. But to really understand the significance of this shoemaker, you have to know the devotion of their customers. When speaking about Clarks of England, one lady noted that their style of shoes are the most comfortable retail brand she has ever worn. Another woman commented that she bought her first Clarks sandals in the 1940's and was instantly delighted with their style and comfort. But she later moved to an area where she could no longer buy womens Clarks shoes and had to pursue other alternatives. What did she do? She found a cobbler nearby and ordered him to take apart her Clarks shoes so he could reproduce a new pair of fine leather shoes for her. That's how devoted she was to her newfound footwear.
